Study tips

This week is test week for me. 9 tests in one week! Learning, reading, making summaries, stress, nerves. It is hard, but the free weekend after is heaven! And I’ve got a good reward: the concert of Ed Sheeran! I am so excited! But since I know how hard the test week is, I wanted to help you with some study tips.

  • Prepare, get into a study mode. But don’t let it take ages, evading is something I also do sometimes. But then you’ll have to do everything late in the evening.
  • Eat healthy during a full week of hard working. Sugar will only give you energy for a short amount of time, while healthy snacks will keep you energised for much longer.

  • Stay hydrated, it will really help you with concentrating. And again don’t drink soda, water is much better.
  • Free your working place of distraction.

  • Throw your phone to the other side of the room ;). Well, don’t do that. But just make sure you don’t get distracted by social media. If you don’t need wifi for your learning, you can just disconnect from the wifi.
  • Make a schedule. It gives you an overview of what to do.
  • I know it’s hard, but maybe try to have some fun. See it from the positive side, all those things you learn are actually really interesting.

  • Also, make sure you know what you need to learn in advance. You don’t want to be surprised with more things to learn five minutes before your exam. (And yes I know how that feels 😉 ).
  • Take a break. Studying for hours and hours without a break isn’t good. It’s much better to take short breaks. In that way, you can get relaxed and re-focus.

Easing into a new semester is always tough. While a fresh start is nice, like, in theory, coming back to school almost always just serves as a reminder that you’ve managed to forget literally everything you learned the last time you were in school. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been gone for a month, a week, or even just a weekend–getting yourself back in shape for school will never not be the absolute worst thing in the world.:

  • It’s better to learn one subject one hour for several days than to learn it in the five hours before your test.
  • Sleep is really important! Don’t stay awake learning till 2 am because you will be tired and unable of concentration on your test.

  • And then some tips for the examen itself:
    • Never leave an answer blank, just write something down and maybe you will still get some points.
    • Your first choice is usually right.
    • Read the questions carefully.
    • Don’t rush, take your time. It’s better to answer fewer questions and to have them right than to answer everything but to have a lot of them wrong.
    • Double check your answers if you have time left.
    • If I find a question hard, I put an exclamation point (P!atd! 😉 ) in the margin so I can come back to it later.

Good luck with studying! Don’t stress, it will be alright. And if you need motivation, think about the free weekend when it’s over :D! Oh, another study tip, reward yourself after an exam. When you’re back from school, first relax before you are going to study. And maybe organise a party with your friends when it’s over!

I hope these tips will help you!

And now I need to go and study again :(. Bye!
